The Cancer Center is committed to delivering comprehensive cancer care, combining advanced diagnostics, treatment, and support services with a dedication to serving the needs and well-being of the community.

The center’s outreach efforts extend into the local community, working closely with nonprofit organizations and other stakeholders to reduce the cancer burden in Alaska through education, prevention, and screening initiatives. Providence values its caregivers not just as employees but as indispensable members of a compassionate and collaborative healthcare team. The organization fosters a culture of patient-focused, whole-person care that honors mutual respect and empowerment.

The Special Events Coordinator role at Providence Cancer Center is a full-time daytime position that plays a critical role in the Community Outreach Program. Reporting to leadership within the program, the coordinator is responsible for planning, developing, and managing community education and awareness activities related to cancer prevention. In this position, the coordinator collaborates extensively with community nonprofit organizations, marketing and communications teams, and the Providence Foundation to maximize outreach impact and broaden community engagement. The role requires building and sustaining strong community relationships and identifying opportunities to enhance the center's visibility and involvement in cancer prevention outreach. By coordinating events that educate and inform, the coordinator helps empower individuals and communities to take proactive steps toward reducing cancer risks.

The position emphasizes teamwork, communication, and a strong commitment to community health education. It is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional dedicated to public health and community well-being. Providence offers a competitive wage ranging from $31.71 to $49.22 an hour, with additional potential compensation, such as shift differentials and bonuses. The benefits package includes comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid parental and holiday leave, disability coverage, a 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching, and opportunities for professional growth and advancement.

Working at Providence means joining a diverse and inclusive workforce where every individual’s contributions are valued and respected. Providence is committed to equal employment opportunities and fostering a workplace free from discrimination or harassment. The organization’s vision extends beyond healthcare to include responsible stewardship of community resources and environmental sustainability, with ambitious goals like becoming carbon negative by 2030.

Overall, the Special Events Coordinator position at Providence Cancer Center offers a meaningful career path for individuals with experience in community outreach, event coordination, and public health education.
