Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in hospitality or event management or related experience
  • Over three years of experience in planning, leading and executing special events
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certification within one year of employment
  • Valid South Carolina Class D driver's license
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying environmental conditions
  • Ability to lift and handle equipment up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to manage time pressures and multitask
  • Ability to work irregular schedules and overtime
  • Ability to use computers and event management software
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in hospitality or event management or related experience
  • Over three years of experience in planning, leading and executing special events
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certification within one year of employment
  • Valid South Carolina Class D driver's license
  • Knowledge of special event management principles and best practices
  • Knowledge of special event planning trends and emergency management procedures
  • Ability to read and apply laws, ordinances, rules, and procedures
  • Ability to resolve difficult citizen inquiries and advise the public
  • Ability to write policies, contracts, speeches and presentations
  • Ability to conceptualize and develop new procedures
  • Ability to supervise, train, evaluate and counsel staff
  • Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships
  • Ability to complete time-sensitive projects with collaboration and creativity
  • Proficient in graphic design software including Adobe Creative Suite
  • Proficient in social media platforms and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to operate office and event equipment including credit card machines, POS, audio visual equipment, vehicles and radios

Job Duties

  • Serve as primary event lead, plan and manage event logistics
  • Coordinate and evaluate event logistics including scheduling, contracts, and presentations
  • Manage operations and logistics including event design, staffing, setup and teardown
  • Recruit and supervise event staff, interns, and volunteers
  • Coordinate vendor solicitation, pricing, and compliance
  • Manage venue rental operations including sales, contracts, and third-party coordination
  • Oversee retail operations including merchandise and food and beverage sales
