Job Description
Providence Alaska Medical Center is a premier health care institution serving Alaska with a rich history that dates back to 1902 when the Sisters of Providence first introduced health care during the Gold Rush in Nome. Over the years, Providence has evolved to become the state's largest private employer and a leading health care provider. Today, Providence operates award-winning and comprehensive medical centers in Anchorage, Eagle River, Kodiak Island, Mat-Su, Seward, and Valdez. As a not-for-profit network, Providence offers a full spectrum of care, including cutting-edge diagnostics and treatments, outpatient health centers, physician groups and clinics, outreach programs, hospice, and home care services. The organization is dedicated to offering high-quality patient-focused care while advancing health practices and addressing community needs. Providence is also deeply committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where diversity is celebrated, and every team member feels respected and valued.
The Community Outreach Program Coordinator position at Providence Cancer Center plays a vital role in the organization’s mission to reduce the cancer burden within Alaska. This full-time, day-shift role is based onsite at the Providence Cancer Center in Anchorage and encompasses planning, developing, and overseeing community education and awareness initiatives, special events, and cancer prevention screening events. The Coordinator will collaborate closely with community non-profit organizations that share a common goal of combating cancer. A key responsibility of this role involves building and nurturing community relationships to identify opportunities for broader engagement and enhanced service delivery from the Cancer Center. The Coordinator will work in partnership with both the PAMC Marketing/Communications department and the Providence Foundation, ensuring alignment and synergy in outreach efforts. This position requires a dedicated public health professional who is compassionate, detail-oriented, and skilled at managing multiple projects while working with various stakeholders, including senior management and physicians. The candidate must be driven to create impactful programs that inspire community participation and improve public health outcomes. Providence offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary commensurate with experience, and additional financial incentives such as shift differentials and bonus opportunities. The comprehensive benefits package supports the wellbeing of employees and their families with 401(k) employer matching, health care benefits covering medical, dental, and vision, life and disability insurance, generous paid time off inclusive of parental leave, holidays, and wellness resources. Joining Providence means becoming part of a dedicated team of 120,000 caregivers spread across multiple states—including Alaska, California, Montana, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas, and Washington—who are united by the Promise of "Know me, care for me, ease my way." The commitment to community health, environmental responsibility with goals like becoming carbon negative by 2030, and prioritizing inclusive excellence make Providence Alaska Medical Center an exceptional place to grow professionally and contribute to meaningful change in health care.
