Job Requirements

general knowledge of basic electrical theory
working knowledge of lighting and/or sound effects
working knowledge of safety requirements and standards related to stage and set construction, lighting, and stage operations
working knowledge of design principles
ability to translate design specifications, blueprints, or drawings into applicable costume, scenery, lighting and sound production
foundation knowledge of applicable software packages for production specialty
ability to identify appropriate materials and supplies and manage materials budgets for projects
ability to assist in training and supervision of students involved in productions
willingness to work intermittent, on-call hours
ability to comply with background check and mandated reporter requirements
authorization to work in the United States

Job Qualifications

equivalent of one to two years experience working for a theater, repertory, or stock company performing duties in lighting, sound, and projections, stage rigging and set construction or related work
bachelor’s degree in theatre, the fine arts, or a related field is preferred
valid California driver’s license is preferred

Job Duties

work to ensure a safe working environment and successful completion of events
provide audio setup and run various sound boards
provide lighting setup including hang and focus and run various lighting boards
supervise use of theatre department spaces including locking/unlocking and granting access
utilize a counterweight rigging system
work with stationary, power, and hand tools used in woodworking
interpret and utilize technical drawings/designs
provide front of house operations and audience management
perform other duties as assigned
