Job Description

Halifax Humane Society, located in the vibrant community of Daytona Beach, Florida, is a renowned nonprofit organization committed to improving the lives of animals through adoption, education, and advocacy. Known as the "World's Most Famous Beach," Daytona Beach provides a unique and inspiring environment for professionals who are passionate about animal welfare and community engagement. Halifax Humane Society has built a strong reputation for its dedication to providing exceptional care and finding loving homes for animals in need. Through innovative programs and community partnerships, the organization has become a cornerstone of support and education in Volusia County and beyond.

The Corporate & Special Events Manager at Halifax Humane Society is a pivotal role responsible for managing and expanding the organization’s business partner portfolio and leading the execution and revenue growth of its two flagship fundraising events: the Mutt Strut and the Fur Ball. This is a full-time position based in Daytona Beach, offering a salary commensurate with experience, and is eligible for a signing bonus and relocation allowance. The role reports directly to the Chief Advancement Officer and represents a strategic opportunity to contribute to the financial sustainability and community presence of the Humane Society.

The ideal candidate for this position is a dynamic, relationship-driven professional with a proven track record in sponsorship sales, event planning, and peer-to-peer fundraising within the nonprofit sector or related fields. They must have the expertise to develop, nurture, and grow corporate partnerships that align with the organization’s objectives while securing year-round investments that support Halifax Humane Society’s mission. Strong technological proficiency is essential, particularly in using CRM systems for data governance, pipeline tracking, and revenue reporting, ensuring all decisions are underpinned by accurate and actionable insights.

The Corporate & Special Events Manager will be responsible for leading the planning, logistics, and execution of flagship events that collectively aim to generate one million dollars in gross revenue annually. This includes comprehensive management of sponsorship sales, event operations, budgeting, vendor negotiations, and on-site leadership to maximize both financial returns and attendee experience. Collaboration with various stakeholders, such as the CEO, fundraising team, volunteers, marketing, and Board committees, is critical to innovating event strategies, expanding attendance and fundraising capacity, and enhancing donor experience and brand visibility.

Beyond annual fundraising events, the Manager will cultivate an expansive third-party events program, fostering at least 25 paid third-party events annually that collectively generate direct revenue of $12,500 or more. This aspect of the role involves managing the end-to-end lifecycle from logistics and communication to stewardship and financial reporting. Additionally, the position demands a strategic focus on securing in-kind donations to minimize event expenses, balancing fiscal responsibility with creative fundraising approaches.

The work environment is flexible but requires availability on weekdays, evenings, weekends, and extended hours during event cycles. The position is physically active, requiring the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform tasks associated with event setup and animal handling. A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and willingness to travel throughout Volusia County are necessary to support the geographically diverse nature of the events and partnerships.

Halifax Humane Society supports its employees with a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, 401(k) matching, paid time off, employee discounts, and professional development assistance. The organization prides itself on fostering a collaborative, mission-driven workplace where dedicated professionals can grow their careers while making a meaningful impact in animal welfare and community engagement.
