Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduation from a recognized nursing program meeting state requirements
- Current state licensure or certification applicable to the role
- Valid CPR and AED certification
- Fulfill state-mandated basic IV therapy training
- Completion of FDA-approved BioLife training program
- Minimum of two years clinical/hospital experience
Job Qualifications
- Graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state licensure
- Currently licensed or certified in the state of responsibility, such as EMT-Paramedic
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification
- Fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy
- Completion of FDA-approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting
Job Duties
- Determine donor eligibility including informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing serological protein electrophoresis (SPE)
- Evaluate donor reactions occurring at the facility as outlined in SOPs
- Follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies including developing Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care
- Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on unacceptable findings, medical or technical issues, and donor safety
- Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees
- Manage employee incidents and determine if further evaluation is required by occupational health or emergency room
- Function as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized and support investigations of pandemic threats
