Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduation from a recognized nursing program meeting state requirements
  • Current state licensure or certification applicable to the role
  • Valid CPR and AED certification
  • Fulfill state-mandated basic IV therapy training
  • Completion of FDA-approved BioLife training program
  • Minimum of two years clinical/hospital experience

Job Qualifications

  • Graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state licensure
  • Currently licensed or certified in the state of responsibility, such as EMT-Paramedic
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification
  • Fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy
  • Completion of FDA-approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
  • Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting

Job Duties

  • Determine donor eligibility including informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing serological protein electrophoresis (SPE)
  • Evaluate donor reactions occurring at the facility as outlined in SOPs
  • Follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies including developing Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care
  • Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on unacceptable findings, medical or technical issues, and donor safety
  • Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees
  • Manage employee incidents and determine if further evaluation is required by occupational health or emergency room
  • Function as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized and support investigations of pandemic threats
