Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
  • Current licensure or certification as EMT-Paramedic in assigned state
  • Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification
  • Fulfill basic IV therapy state requirements
  • Completion of FDA-approved BioLife Medical Support Specialist training
  • Minimum two years clinical or hospital experience

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of recognized educational nursing program
  • Currently licensed or certified in the state of assignment as EMT-Paramedic
  • Current CPR and AED certification
  • Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy
  • Satisfactorily complete FDA-approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
  • Two years clinical or hospital experience

Job Duties

  • Determine donor eligibility including management of informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview, acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, review of Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE)
  • Evaluate donor reactions occurring at the facility following SOPs for medical emergencies, develop Center Physician's standing orders and manage donor transport to emergency care
  • Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on unacceptable findings or complex medical/technical issues
  • Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable
  • Manage employee incidents and determine need for further evaluation by occupational health or emergency room, comply with EHS guidance
  • Serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS, support investigations related to pandemic threats
  • Provide center-level support for environmental, health, and safety initiatives
