Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
- Current licensure or certification as EMT-Paramedic in the assigned state
- Current CPR and AED certification
- Completion of FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Minimum two years clinical or hospital experience
- Ability to follow SOPs and regulatory standards
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Capacity to manage medical emergencies and donor safety
- Willingness to comply with health and safety policies
- Ability to work full-time in Glendale, Arizona
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
- Currently licensed or certified in the state of assignment as EMT-Paramedic
- Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy
- Satisfactorily complete FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Two years of clinical or hospital setting experience
Job Duties
- Determine donor eligibility including informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing serological protein electrophoresis
- Evaluate donor reactions occurring at the facility as per standard operating procedures
- Follow SOPs for medical emergencies including development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities
- Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical guidance
- Support hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees
- Manage employee incidents and coordinate further evaluation if needed according to environmental health and safety guidance
- Serve as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized and support investigations related to pandemic threats within the local community
