Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduation from a recognized educational nursing program meeting state requirements
- Current EMT-Paramedic license or certification in the assigned state
- Current CPR and AED certification
- Meet state requirements for basic IV therapy
- Completion of FDA approved BioLife Medical Support Specialist training
- Minimum two years clinical or hospital experience
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent including graduation from an educational nursing program that meets state requirements
- Currently licensed or certified in the assigned state with EMT-Paramedic certification
- Current CPR and AED certification
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy in state of licensure
- Completion of FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Minimum of two years clinical or hospital experience
Job Duties
- Determine donor eligibility including management of informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing serological protein electrophoresis (SPE)
- Evaluate donor reactions following SOPs and manage medical emergencies including development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency facilities
- Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on unacceptable findings, medical or technical issues, donor safety and eligibility
- Support hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees
- Manage employee incidents and determine if further evaluation by occupational health or emergency room is required
- Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized, supporting investigations associated with pandemic threats as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs
