Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduation from a recognized educational nursing program meeting state requirements
  • Current EMT-Paramedic license or certification in the assigned state
  • Current CPR and AED certification
  • Meet state requirements for basic IV therapy
  • Completion of FDA approved BioLife Medical Support Specialist training
  • Minimum two years clinical or hospital experience

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent including graduation from an educational nursing program that meets state requirements
  • Currently licensed or certified in the assigned state with EMT-Paramedic certification
  • Current CPR and AED certification
  • Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy in state of licensure
  • Completion of FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
  • Minimum of two years clinical or hospital experience

Job Duties

  • Determine donor eligibility including management of informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing serological protein electrophoresis (SPE)
  • Evaluate donor reactions following SOPs and manage medical emergencies including development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency facilities
  • Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on unacceptable findings, medical or technical issues, donor safety and eligibility
  • Support hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees
  • Manage employee incidents and determine if further evaluation by occupational health or emergency room is required
  • Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized, supporting investigations associated with pandemic threats as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs
