The Lead Cook is responsible for preparing food using standardized recipes and production guidelines while strictly adhering to food safety, food handling, and sanitation procedures. This includes handling kitchen equipment such as grills, fryers, ovens, and broilers safely and efficiently.
In addition to cooking, the Lead Cook supervises kitchen staff, delegates tasks, schedules and assigns daily work activities, and ensures the kitchen operates smoothly and efficiently. This leadership role requires not only technical cooking skills but also strong interpersonal and communication abilities to train and guide staff effectively. The position involves preparing and measuring ingredients, safely using cooking utensils and equipment, and employing various cooking methods such as baking, roasting, broiling, and steaming. The Lead Cook must also ensure proper storage of food following safety protocols, maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas and equipment, and uphold Aramark's safety and security policies.
The role demands physical stamina, as duties include lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended periods of walking or standing.
