Job Requirements
- Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
- six months to one year related experience and/or training
- ability to prepare and cook meals following recipes and dietary requirements
- knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
- ability to maintain professional demeanor and confidentiality
- capability to work safely and promote a sanitary environment
- skills in inventory management and record keeping
- willingness to contribute to community relations and resident activities
- strong teamwork and communication skills
- ability to supervise and assist kitchen staff
- proficiency in quality assurance and food handling practices
- ability to assist in menu planning and cost control
- capacity to report and respond to safety hazards and equipment malfunctions
Job Qualifications
- Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
- six months to one year related experience and/or training
- food service experience in hospitality, country club, or senior living industry preferred
Job Duties
- Prepares and cooks meals for residents under the direction of Food Service Director
- responsible for providing high quality dining service that takes into account resident preferences and special dietary requirements
- assists Food Service Director in all phases of kitchen management
- maintains a professional appearance, manner, and approach while on duty
- works in a manner that promotes a safe and sanitary environment for staff, residents and visitors
- makes an active contribution towards improving community relations
- maintains appropriate levels of confidentiality
- ensures the provision of high-quality services and service delivery to residents
- reports resident and employee incidents to Food Service Director
- identifies and reports safety hazards and assists in instituting corrective action
- shares responsibility for maintaining an environment conducive to resident safety and well-being
- participates in departmental and community meetings and projects
- supports and participates in resident-centered activity programs
- helps supervise and assists staff in production of menu items
- conducts quality assurance tests for menu items
- supervises safe food handling procedures
- monitors labeling and proper storage of foods
- cooks foods in quantities according to menu and number of persons served
- assists in planning, review and revision of menus and recipes
- assists in adherence to staffing goals
- orders supplies and keeps records as directed
- helps maintain preventative maintenance for kitchen equipment
- reports equipment malfunctions
- assists in reviewing and controlling food, labor, and supply costs
- controls overproduction, waste, and theft
- maintains accurate daily production records
