Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous food preparation experience
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
  • ability to follow recipes and production records
  • good communication skills
  • ability to work in a team
  • physical ability to stand for long periods
  • willingness to maintain confidentiality
  • commitment to resident-centered service
  • availability to work flexible hours including weekends
  • basic math skills

Job Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
  • six months to one year related experience and/or training
  • food service experience in hospitality, country club, or senior living industry preferred

Job Duties

  • Prepares and cooks meals for residents under the direction of Food Service Director
  • provides high quality dining service that meets resident preferences and dietary requirements
  • assists Food Service Director in kitchen management
  • maintains professional appearance, manner, and approach while on duty
  • promotes a safe and sanitary environment for staff, residents, and visitors
  • contributes to improving community relations and awareness
  • maintains confidentiality
  • ensures high-quality service delivery
  • reports incidents and safety hazards promptly
  • shares responsibility for resident well-being and safety
  • participates in departmental and community meetings
  • supports resident-centered activity programs
  • supervises and assists staff in menu production
  • conducts quality assurance tests
  • supervises safe food handling procedures
  • monitors food labeling and storage
  • cooks food in proper quantities
  • assists in menu planning and recipe development
  • assists in staffing and supply ordering
  • maintains kitchen equipment
  • reports equipment malfunctions
  • assists in cost control
  • controls overproduction, waste, and theft
  • maintains production records
