Job Requirements

  • associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
  • six months to one year related experience and/or training
  • ability to work under the direction of food service director
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
  • ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality
  • strong communication skills
  • ability to supervise and assist kitchen staff
  • capability to manage food production and quality control
  • willingness to participate in meetings and community activities
  • ability to handle administrative tasks such as ordering supplies and maintaining records
  • physical ability to perform cooking and kitchen maintenance tasks

Job Qualifications

  • associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
  • six months to one year related experience and/or training
  • experience in food service within hospitality, country club, or senior living industry preferred

Job Duties

  • prepares and cooks meals for residents under the direction of food service director
  • responsible for providing high quality dining service that considers resident preferences and special dietary requirements in compliance with food and sanitation regulations
  • assists food service director in all phases of kitchen management
  • maintains professional appearance, manner, and approach while on duty
  • promotes a safe and sanitary environment for staff, residents, and visitors
  • contributes to improving community relations and increasing public awareness of the community
  • maintains appropriate levels of confidentiality
  • ensures high-quality service delivery to residents
  • reports resident and employee incidents and safety hazards to food service director and assists with corrective actions
  • shares responsibility for resident safety and well-being
  • participates in departmental and community meetings and projects
  • supports resident-centered activity programs
  • supervises and assists staff in food production including recipes and portioning
  • conducts quality assurance tests for menu items
  • supervises safe food handling procedures
  • monitors proper food labeling and storage
  • cooks food according to menu quantities
  • assists in menu planning and recipe development to meet food costs and quality standards
  • assists in meeting staffing goals
  • orders supplies and maintains records as directed
  • helps maintain preventive maintenance of equipment
  • reports equipment malfunctions promptly
  • assists in controlling food, labor, and supply costs
  • controls overproduction, waste, and theft
  • maintains accurate daily production records
