Job Requirements
- Ability to speak, read, write and understand the workplace language
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Basic computational ability
- Ability to read recipes and follow instructions
- Ability to perform culinary techniques like cutting, cooking principles and plate presentation
- Ability to work in varying temperature conditions
- Ability to stand and exert mobility for extended periods
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment such as stoves, ovens, mixers
- Physical dexterity and manual skills
- Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or secondary qualification
- Experience with Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Wyndham or Hyatt standards
- Knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service
- Good working knowledge of sanitation standards
- Ability to manage human resources within the kitchen environment
- Strong communication skills
Job Duties
- Plan and manage kitchen staff in procurement, production, preparation and presentation of food
- Recommend menu and procedural changes
- Manage food and labor costs within budget constraints
- Hire, train, develop, coach and counsel kitchen employees
- Monitor and control sanitation and maintenance of kitchen and equipment
- Develop and implement department budgets
- Analyze banquet event orders and coordinate functions with catering staff
