Job Requirements

  • Ability to speak, read, write and understand the workplace language
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic computational ability
  • Ability to read recipes and follow instructions
  • Ability to perform culinary techniques like cutting, cooking principles and plate presentation
  • Ability to work in varying temperature conditions
  • Ability to stand and exert mobility for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment such as stoves, ovens, mixers
  • Physical dexterity and manual skills
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or secondary qualification
  • Experience with Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Wyndham or Hyatt standards
  • Knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service
  • Good working knowledge of sanitation standards
  • Ability to manage human resources within the kitchen environment
  • Strong communication skills

Job Duties

  • Plan and manage kitchen staff in procurement, production, preparation and presentation of food
  • Recommend menu and procedural changes
  • Manage food and labor costs within budget constraints
  • Hire, train, develop, coach and counsel kitchen employees
  • Monitor and control sanitation and maintenance of kitchen and equipment
  • Develop and implement department budgets
  • Analyze banquet event orders and coordinate functions with catering staff
