This role is ideally suited for individuals with a robust culinary background who are passionate about leadership and teamwork. The Sous Chef will play a pivotal role in the innovative Signature Dining Programs, which feature à la minute cooking and chef-inspired creations. Working in state-of-the-art kitchens equipped with the latest equipment, the Sous Chef will collaborate closely with a dedicated team committed to delivering top-quality dining experiences to residents. The position does not involve late-night shifts, supporting a desirable work-life balance for culinary professionals. In this leadership role, the Sous Chef is responsible for supervising scheduling, training, and discipline of culinary and utility staff, ensuring smooth kitchen operations especially during the Chef's absence. This includes oversight of food production, staffing, utility management, and sanitation. The Sous Chef will manage daily kitchen production to guarantee timely and high-quality meal service that meets all dietary restrictions and food safety standards. Additionally, this role demands active participation in maintaining cleanliness and organization across dining and kitchen areas, storage, and loading docks. The ideal candidate will bring at least three years of full-service culinary experience and a minimum of six months in a supervisory or coaching capacity. The position requires flexibility to work some weekends and holidays, and physical ability to handle lifting up to 50 pounds and work in varying temperatures ranging from hot kitchens to refrigerated environments. Job Duties
- Supervises the scheduling, training, and discipline of all culinary and utility staff
- oversees all culinary functions in the Chef's absence including staffing, food production, utility management, and kitchen sanitation
- manages daily kitchen production and food preparation to ensure timely service of resident meals
- directs the preparation and service of all menu items including adherence to recipes, proper food handling, food safety, quality, dietary restrictions, and production forecasts
- oversees the organization and sanitation of dining rooms, kitchen, storage areas, and loading dock
