Rusty Bucket Restaurant and Tavern is a well-established and beloved neighborhood tavern known for its fun, fast, and friendly atmosphere. As a restaurant that prioritizes a community-focused approach, Rusty Bucket prides itself on delivering a warm hospitality experience to its guests while fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for its team members. With over 60 restaurants under its umbrella, Rusty Bucket offers a unique opportunity for career growth and celebrates its culture of promoting from within, ensuring employees can develop and advance their careers in the hospitality industry.

The Sous Chef role at Rusty Bucket Restaurant and Tavern is a pivotal position dedicated to ensuring the kitchen operates at the highest standards of quality and safety. This position plays a crucial part in creating memorable dining experiences by preparing nutritious, safe, visually appealing, and flavorful food. A Sous Chef at Rusty Bucket is responsible for upholding rigorous sanitation standards and maintaining a safe working environment for all kitchen associates. Beyond food preparation, the role includes contributing to menu planning, budget maintenance, payroll oversight, and monitoring food costs to optimize kitchen operations.

The Sous Chef is an essential leader within the Heart of House (HOH) team, directly supervising kitchen staff to uphold quality standards and efficiency. This person trains associates in cooking methods, food presentation, proper portion control, and nutritional retention. As a leader, the Sous Chef embodies Rusty Bucket's values of kindness, positivity, teamwork, and community focus, fostering a workplace culture that emphasizes respect and inclusion. This role requires a proactive and engaged mindset — known within the organization as the “Yes, is the Answer!” mentality — which encourages problem-solving and exceptional customer and team service.

In addition to culinary expertise, the Sous Chef helps protect the restaurant’s financial assets by controlling costs, maximizing revenue, and ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and employment laws. The position demands excellent communication skills and a professional demeanor to effectively interact with guests, team members, suppliers, and community partners. Rusty Bucket is committed to diversity and equal opportunity, creating an environment where associates from diverse backgrounds can thrive and contribute their strengths.

Rusty Bucket recognizes the importance of work-life balance and offers benefits such as flexible scheduling, paid time off, closed holidays, dining discounts, and comprehensive health benefits for eligible team members. The restaurant fosters a positive, creative, and inclusive work culture where every associate feels valued and empowered to succeed. If you are passionate about hospitality, leadership, and culinary excellence, the Sous Chef role at Rusty Bucket Restaurant and Tavern provides a rewarding career path in a vibrant and welcoming neighborhood setting.
