The Playa Vista campus, where this position is based, is a dynamic center for creative technology and media companies, promoting a culture of innovation and collaboration. Within this vibrant environment, Thompson Hospitality operates a high-quality culinary team that supports the needs of campus dining venues. We are currently seeking a talented and experienced Sous Chef to join this team and support the Executive Chef in managing all kitchen operations. As the second-in-command, the Sous Chef will play a key leadership role by supervising kitchen staff, maintaining consistent food quality, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, and assisting with menu planning and inventory management. This role demands a culinary professional who excels in mentoring others, managing prep and service schedules, and ensuring smooth and efficient service during every meal period.

The Sous Chef will collaborate closely with the Executive Chef to execute the culinary vision for the restaurant, oversee food preparation with precision, and ensure a seamless kitchen workflow. This role is well-suited for an individual with experience in high-class dining environments who thrives under pressure and is committed to maintaining high standards in culinary techniques and presentation. Attention to detail, leadership skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously are essential for success in this position. Job Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during long shifts
  • Frequent bending, reaching, stooping, and twisting
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Manual dexterity to handle knives, cookware, and kitchen equipment safely
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure kitchen environment
  • Tolerance for exposure to heat, steam, noise, and open flames
  • Ability to navigate tight kitchen spaces and multitask efficiently
  • Visual and sensory acuity to inspect food quality, presentation, and safety

Job Qualifications

  • Experience as a sous chef
  • Experience in high-class dining
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and quality
  • Excellent time management skills to ensure timely and efficient food preparation
  • Understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations, with a focus on maintaining a clean and organized work area
