Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years supervisory experience in banquet, hotel or convention center
  • State-issued health certificate and immunizations
  • Serve Safe certification
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software
  • Ability to supervise, coach and train employees
  • Ability to adhere to food safety standards
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a dynamic environment
  • Must maintain professional appearance and attendance
  • Ability to work independently and in a team

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED
  • Minimum of 3 years in a similar supervisory position in upscale banquet, hotel or convention center setting
  • State issued health certificate and immunizations required
  • Technical proficiency in food preparation methods
  • Ability to interact positively with diverse personalities
  • Strong communication and active listening skills
  • Experience in staff training, evaluation, motivation, coaching and counseling
  • Ability to distribute responsibility to meet objectives
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Detail-oriented, able to multitask and prioritize
  • Self-directed with team collaboration skills
  • Flexible scheduling including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy objects and perform fast, repetitive hand movements
  • Serve Safe certification
  • Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Ability to work independently and supervise staff
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations

Job Duties

  • Supervises all line set-up, prep and breakdown activities
  • Supervises all buffet, beverage, break, and carving table set-up and breakdown
  • Assists Executive Chef with fulfilling kitchen record keeping and administrative requirements including food inventories and ordering of food products
  • Organizes employee work schedules and ensures appropriate kitchen coverage
  • Measures, mixes and cooks ingredients according to recipes
  • Uses a variety of pots, pans, knives and other equipment to prepare and serve food
  • Maintains cleanliness in kitchen and food production areas
  • Provides ongoing assistance, training and mentoring to kitchen staff
  • Ensures quality, consistency and concept are maintained in food production
  • Monitors events, materials and kitchen surroundings
  • Guides, directs and motivates kitchen employees
  • Ensures compliance with food safety standards
  • Communicates effectively with supervisors, peers and subordinates
  • Makes decisions, solves problems and prioritizes work
  • Documents and records personnel discipline
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Executive Chef
