Job Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school
  • Six months to one year related experience and/or training
  • Ability to follow recipes and maintain quality standards
  • Strong attention to food safety and sanitation regulations
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Physical ability to perform kitchen duties
  • Willingness to comply with confidentiality and safety protocols
  • Ability to attend community meetings and participate in resident activities

Job Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school
  • Six months to one year related experience and/or training
  • Food Service experience in hospitality, country club, or senior living industry preferred
  • Ability to follow recipes and maintain quality standards
  • Strong attention to food safety and sanitation
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Basic supervisory capabilities
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently

Job Duties

  • Prepares and cooks meals for residents under the direction of Food Service Director
  • Assists Food Service Director in all phases of kitchen management
  • Maintains a professional appearance, manner, and approach while on duty
  • Works in a manner that promotes a safe and sanitary environment for staff, residents and visitors
  • Makes efforts to reduce safety hazards, accidents, and injuries
  • Contributes to improving community relations and resident satisfaction
  • Maintains appropriate levels of confidentiality
  • Ensures provision of high-quality services and service delivery to residents
  • Reports incidents and safety hazards to Food Service Director
  • Shares responsibility for maintaining a safe and supportive environment
  • Participates in departmental and community meetings and projects
  • Supports resident-centered activity programs
  • Supervises and assists staff in the production of menu items using recipes and production records
  • Conducts quality assurance tests for menu items
  • Supervises safe food handling procedures emphasizing critical control points
  • Monitors labeling and proper storage of all foods
  • Cooks food in quantities according to menu and number served
  • Assists in planning, reviewing, and revising menus and menu cycles
  • Helps develop and maintain recipes adhering to cost and quality standards
  • Assists in adherence to staffing goals
  • Orders supplies and maintains records
  • Maintains preventative maintenance for kitchen equipment
  • Reports equipment malfunctions immediately
  • Assists in reviewing and controlling food, labor, and supply costs
  • Controls overproduction, waste, and theft
  • Maintains accurate daily production records
