Job Requirements

  • Minimum one year of post high school education, preferably at culinary institution
  • Three to four years of related employment experience
  • Hotel experience preferred
  • Knowledge of food profession management principles and practices
  • Knowledge of hotel operations including marketing and safety
  • Ability to work under time constraints
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum one year of post high school education, preferably at culinary institution
  • Three to four years of employment in a related position
  • Hotel experience preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of principles and practices within the food profession including management of people and complex problems
  • Knowledge of hotel operations including marketing plans, security, safety programs, personnel and labor relations, business plan preparation, repairs, maintenance, budget forecasting, quality assurance, hospitality law, and long-range planning
  • Ability to work effectively under time constraints and deadlines
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style for different audiences

Job Duties

  • Supervise the production, preparation, and presentation of all foods for the hotel as assigned by the Executive Chef to ensure quality and consistency
  • Supervise human resources in the kitchen including interviewing, scheduling, training, developing, coaching, counseling, resolving problems, conducting performance and salary reviews, and recommending discipline
  • Monitor and control kitchen and equipment sanitation and maintenance to ensure a safe and healthy work environment
  • Monitor and control labor and food costs through scheduling and supervision to meet or exceed budget goals
  • Assist in planning and creating menus and daily specials to attract new business and ensure guest satisfaction
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work regularly
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned
