We are currently seeking talented individuals to join our team in full-time and part-time Sous Chef positions. These roles offer an exciting opportunity for culinary professionals with prior institutional cooking experience to advance their careers in a dynamic educational food service setting. As a Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Executive Chef to prepare and cook food, coordinate food-service activities, and manage kitchen operations in the absence of the Executive Chef. The positions are hourly, with a pay range from $13.00 to $16.00 per hour, reflecting the responsibilities and the comprehensive skills required for these roles.

The Sous Chef position is essential to our food service operations, ensuring that all culinary production standards are met with consistency and care. You will be responsible for cooking and preparing food following approved recipes and production standards, supervising hourly food service associates, managing inventory, ensuring food safety and sanitation procedures, and resolving customer inquiries or complaints in a service-oriented manner. This role demands excellent organizational skills, leadership capability, and the ability to thrive during peak service hours. Job Requirements

  • Prior institutional cooking experience
  • Availability for full-time or part-time schedules with varying days and hours
  • Ability to handle supervising responsibilities including interviewing and scheduling
  • Compliance with corporate, state, and federal food safety standards
  • Ability to interact professionally with customers and team members
  • Willingness to perform cleaning and maintenance of workstations and equipment
  • Ability to perform duties at an educational facility which may include working varied shifts and potential temporary layoffs during school breaks

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Cooks and prepares food following approved recipes and production standards
  • Ensures all deadlines are met based on production orders
  • Supervises hourly food service associates, including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, and recommending disciplinary actions as appropriate
  • Stores food in designated areas following all corporate, state, and federal food safety and sanitation procedures
  • Ensures proper food handling, presentation, portion control, and maintenance of appropriate serving temperatures
  • Maintains sanitation of equipment, supplies, and utensils
  • Cleans workstation thoroughly before leaving area
  • Interacts with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner
  • Demonstrates complete understanding of daily menu items and accurately explains them to associates and customers
  • Monitors inventory and deliveries of product and supplies
  • Tracks product production, consumption, and waste
  • Informs supervisor when supplies or product are low
  • Performs other duties as assigned
