This position is for a full-time Sous Chef located at RTX - 1151 E Hermans Road, Tucson, AZ 85756, with an hourly pay rate of $23.50. The role involves working a Monday through Friday schedule, with hours varying and detailed upon interview. Importantly, the position offers the desirable perks of no nights and no weekends, supporting a balanced work-life dynamic.
As a Sous Chef, you will play a crucial role in assisting the Executive Chef in preparing and cooking foods while coordinating the activities of cooks and other food-service associates. You will have direct responsibility for kitchen operations and food-service associates in the absence of the Executive Chef. This high-volume production environment demands someone with proven expertise and a passion for culinary excellence.
Key responsibilities include supervising hourly food service associates, which encompasses interviewing, training, scheduling, payroll management, counseling, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions as necessary. The Sous Chef ensures that all food preparation follows approved recipes and production standards, maintaining high safety, sanitation, and quality standards. The role requires diligent monitoring of food inventories, deliveries, and waste, along with ensuring proper food handling, presentation, portion control, and maintenance of serving temperatures.
Maintaining kitchen cleanliness is essential, as is managing equipment and utensils to meet safety and sanitation regulations. You will also engage with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner and relay relevant information to supervisors. A thorough understanding of the daily menu items is required to communicate effectively with both associates and customers.

Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- minimum of 2 years experience in a high-volume food production setting
- ability to work full-time Monday through Friday with flexible hours
- strong leadership and organizational skills
- knowledge of food safety standards and sanitation procedures
- effective communication skills
- capable of standing for long hours and performing physically demanding tasks
- ability to resolve customer complaints professionally
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- cooks and prepares food following approved recipes and production standards
- ensures all deadlines are met based on production orders
- supervises hourly food service associates including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, participating in reviews and recommending disciplinary action as appropriate
- stores food in designated areas following all corporate, state and federal food safety and sanitation procedures
- ensures proper food handling, presentation, portion control and maintenance of appropriate serving temperatures
- maintains sanitation of equipment, supplies and utensils and cleans workstation thoroughly before leaving area
- interacts with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner and relays relevant information directly to supervisor
- demonstrates complete understanding of daily menu items and accurately explains them to associates and customers
- keeps up with peak production and service hours
- monitors inventory and deliveries of product and supplies, tracks product production, consumption and waste and informs supervisor when supplies or product are low
- performs other duties as assigned
