The current opportunity is for a full-time Sous Chef position located at Schwab Omaha, 200 S. 108th Avenue, Omaha, NE. This role is essential in supporting the Executive Chef by preparing and cooking food according to approved recipes and production standards. The Sous Chef will also play a critical role in coordinating the activities of cooks and other foodservice associates, ensuring smooth kitchen operations and maintaining high standards of food quality and safety. This position operates on a Monday to Friday schedule from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, offering a stable workweek with competitive hourly pay ranging from $21.00 to $25.50.
As a Sous Chef at Eurest, you will assume significant responsibility, especially in the absence of the Executive Chef, by managing kitchen staff and food service associates effectively. Key duties include supervising hourly food associates through tasks such as interviewing, scheduling, payroll management, training, counseling, and conducting performance reviews and disciplinary actions when necessary. The role demands strict adherence to food safety regulations, proper storage and handling of food, and upkeep of cleanliness in the kitchen and workstations. The Sous Chef also ensures that food presentation, portion control, and serving temperatures meet Eurest's standards, contributing to an excellent dining experience for customers.
Customer interaction is another vital aspect of the job, as the Sous Chef will address and resolve complaints promptly while maintaining a friendly and service-oriented manner. The individual in this role must have a deep understanding of daily menu items to accurately inform both associates and customers. Monitoring inventory levels, tracking production, consumption, and waste, and liaising with supervisors about supply needs are also key functions.
