Job Description
Bon Appetit Management Company is a prominent leader in the foodservice industry, operating over 1,000 cafés across the United States. These cafés serve a diverse range of clientele, including corporations, universities, museums, and select public restaurants. The company prides itself on its commitment to socially and environmentally responsible sourcing, championing sustainable seafood, cage-free eggs, and cooking everything from scratch with fresh, local ingredients. Bon Appetit’s innovative approach and dedication to quality have made it a trusted name in culinary management and foodservice operations nationwide.
Currently hiring for a full-time Sous Chef position located at 1455 Custer Ave., San Francisco, CA 94124, Bon Appetit seeks a skilled culinary professional eager to join their dynamic team. This role offers a competitive pay range of $30.00 to $31.00 per hour and involves multiple shift schedules, including Tuesday-Saturday, Sunday-Thursday, or Thursday-Monday, with specifics provided during the interview. Bon Appetit values diversity and inclusion, providing all employees with opportunities for career growth, and offering an internal employee referral bonus as part of their recruitment incentives.
As a Sous Chef, you will be an integral part of the kitchen's leadership, directly supporting the Executive Chef in preparing and cooking high-quality foods that meet approved recipes and production standards. You will oversee the coordination of cooks and other food service associates, ensuring that all kitchen operations run smoothly, efficiently, and in compliance with food safety standards. This includes supervising food service associates through interviewing, training, scheduling, counseling, performance reviews, and recommended disciplinary actions where necessary.
The role demands strong skills in food handling, portion control, presentation, and maintaining appropriate serving temperatures. A critical part of your responsibilities will also involve inventory management, monitoring deliveries, tracking production and consumption, and communicating supply needs to supervisors. Additionally, you will maintain sanitation standards by cleaning workstations and equipment thoroughly, ensuring compliance with all safety, production, and merchandising requirements.
Customer interaction is also a central component of this position; you will address any complaints promptly and professionally, ensuring customer satisfaction and relaying relevant information to higher management. You should have a thorough understanding of the daily menu to accurately inform both clients and team members.
Bon Appetit offers comprehensive benefits to its associates. Full-time employees enjoy medical, dental, vision, and life insurance (AD&D), disability insurance, commuter benefits, employee assistance programs, and flexible spending accounts (FSAs). Both full-time and part-time employees have access to retirement plans, shopping programs, health and wellness initiatives, discount marketplaces, identity theft protection, pet insurance, and various voluntary benefits, including critical illness, accident, and hospital indemnity insurance, as well as legal and auto/home programs. Paid and unpaid time off benefits are also available under federal, state, and local laws, with additional information provided to eligible states.
By joining Bon Appetit, you become part of a company committed to creating a diverse and inclusive work environment that sets the standard in foodservice. Whether you are looking to advance your culinary career or develop new skills in a supportive and sustainable setting, this opportunity at Bon Appetit is designed to foster growth, teamwork, and excellence in service delivery.
