Morrison Living is currently hiring full-time Sous Chefs for its location at Croasdaile Village in Durham, North Carolina. This role offers a competitive pay range of $22.00 to $25.00 per hour and requires candidates with a minimum of five years' prior culinary experience, emphasizing a strong foundation in kitchen operations and team leadership. The full-time schedule includes working Monday through Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with rotating weekends, supporting a dynamic and collaborative kitchen environment.
The Sous Chef position with Morrison Living plays a crucial role in supporting the Executive Chef by preparing and cooking food according to approved recipes and production standards, ensuring the highest quality and consistency in every dish. This role also involves coordinating the activities of cooks and other food-service associates, stepping in to manage kitchen operations in the absence of the Executive Chef. Responsibilities extend from supervising hourly food service staff, including involvement in interviews, scheduling, payroll, training, and performance reviews, to maintaining strict adherence to food safety and sanitation regulations.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum five years of culinary experience
- Ability to supervise and manage kitchen staff
- Knowledge of food safety standards and procedures
- Availability to work full time including rotating weekends
- Strong physical stamina and ability to work standing for long periods
- Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation

Job Duties
- Cooks and prepares food following approved recipes and production standards
- Ensures all deadlines are met based on production orders
- Supervises hourly food service associates including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, participating in reviews and recommending disciplinary action
- Stores food in designated areas following all corporate, state and federal food safety and sanitation procedures
- Ensures proper food handling, presentation, portion control and maintenance of appropriate serving temperatures
- Maintains sanitation of equipment, supplies and utensils and cleans workstation thoroughly
- Interacts with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner
- Monitors inventory and deliveries of product and supplies
- Tracks product production, consumption and waste and informs supervisor when supplies or product are low
- Performs other duties as assigned
