The Baker role is essential within the campus dining services team, working closely under the guidance of the Executive Chef. The position demands a proactive and organized individual who can help prepare and cook a variety of foods in accordance with approved recipes and production standards. Employees in this role are responsible for ensuring that all deadlines related to food production orders are met efficiently. Supervisory responsibilities include overseeing hourly food service associates, which cover scheduling, payroll, training, and performance management. The ideal candidate will bring at least three years of prior supervisory experience and three years of cook and/or chef experience, preferably with exposure to large-scale kitchen operations.
This full-time position requires open availability, including days, nights, and some weekends, offering flexibility that accommodates the operational demands of a university campus dining service. Beyond culinary expertise, the role entails strict adherence to food safety and sanitation procedures, ensuring that all food storage, handling, presentation, and serving meet corporate, state, and federal standards. Maintaining a clean and sanitary workstation and kitchen environment is paramount. Additionally, this position involves engaging with customers in a friendly and service-oriented manner to resolve any complaints or concerns, thus enhancing the guest experience.

Job Duties
- cooks and prepares food following approved recipes and production standards
- ensures all deadlines are met based on production orders
- supervises hourly food service associates
- includes interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, participating in reviews and recommending disciplinary action
- stores food in designated areas following all corporate, state and federal food safety and sanitation procedures
- ensures proper food handling, presentation, portion control and maintenance of appropriate serving temperatures
- maintains sanitation of equipment, supplies and utensils
- cleans workstation thoroughly before leaving area
- keeps display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service to comply with all sanitation, safety, production and merchandising requirements
- interacts with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner
- relays relevant information directly to supervisor
- demonstrates complete understanding of daily menu items and accurately explains them to associates and customers
- keeps up with peak production and service hours
- monitors inventory and deliveries of product and supplies
- tracks product production, consumption and waste
- informs supervisor when supplies or product are low
- performs other duties as assigned
