Eurest is currently hiring a full-time Sous Chef to join our team at the Quanta Services location in Houston, Texas. This position offers a Monday through Friday schedule, with hours that may vary and details provided during the interview process. The pay range for this role is competitive, starting at $18.00 to $18.50 per hour. The Sous Chef will play a vital role in supporting the Executive Chef by preparing and cooking foods according to approved recipes and production standards. This position requires prior culinary experience and involves supervising hourly food service associates, managing kitchen operations, and ensuring adherence to food safety and sanitation regulations. The Sous Chef acts as a key leader within the kitchen, often assuming responsibility in the Executive Chef’s absence, coordinating the activities of cooks and other kitchen staff to maintain high standards of food quality and service.
This role also includes important responsibilities like maintaining inventory and product quality, ensuring proper food handling and presentation, and training associates on culinary standards and customer service. The ideal candidate will be proactive, attentive to detail, and capable of resolving customer inquiries in a friendly and professional manner. Job Duties
- Cooks and prepares food following approved recipes and production standards
- Ensures all deadlines are met based on production orders
- Supervises hourly food service associates including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, and participating in reviews
- Stores food following all corporate, state, and federal food safety and sanitation procedures
- Ensures proper food handling, presentation, portion control, and maintains appropriate serving temperatures
- Maintains sanitation of equipment, supplies, and utensils and cleans workstations
- Interacts with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly and service-oriented manner
- Demonstrates understanding of daily menu items and accurately explains them
- Monitors inventory and deliveries, tracks product production and waste
- Performs other duties as assigned
