Job Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • High-school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in assisted living or other related health care community
  • Must have a food handlers card
  • Must be able to cook a variety of foods in large quantities
  • Must be knowledgeable of food preparation procedures
  • Must have knowledge of sanitation and food safety procedures and rules

Job Duties

  • Assisting with menu creation, pricing, and developing new dishes
  • Ordering, receiving, and storing ingredients, as well as managing inventory records
  • Training new staff, scheduling shifts, and assessing performance
  • Working with other culinary team members and front-of-house staff
  • Overseeing catering operations for special events
  • Serving meals that are palatable, appetizing in appearance and in accordance with established portion control procedures on a timely basis
  • Inspect diet trays
  • work with the facility dietician and process diet change received from Nursing Services
  • Coordinate food service with other departments
  • Ensure that food and supplies for the next meal are readily available
  • Ensure that menus are maintained and reviewed prior to preparation of food
  • Assist in serving meals as necessary and on a timely basis
