The Welbilt Customer Experience Center (WEC) located in Coppell operates as a dynamic hub where culinary professionals and customers converge to explore cutting-edge foodservice equipment through live demonstrations, training sessions, and special events. This facility is pivotal in showcasing Welbilt's product portfolio while providing hands-on experiences that enable clients and partners to realize the full potential of Welbilt's innovative technologies.

Currently, Welbilt's WEC is seeking a talented and driven Sous Chef to assist the Executive Sous Chef and Executive Chef in leading all culinary operations within this vibrant setting. This full-time, day-shift position emphasizes culinary excellence, creativity, and operational leadership. The role entails preparing and executing menus for fine-dining dinners, culinary demonstrations, and high-profile customer events, ensuring food quality, presentation, and timing that meet or exceed Welbilt's brand standards.

The Sous Chef will be integral to fostering a team-oriented and professional kitchen environment, supporting training and coordination of back-of-house staff, and assisting in inventory management and sanitation compliance. The position requires a seasoned culinary professional who can adapt recipes and techniques to a variety of commercial kitchen equipment, support live cooking demonstrations, and collaborate across departments to deliver customized culinary experiences that highlight Welbilt's equipment capabilities.

Additionally, the role involves maintaining kitchen cleanliness, ordering supplies, and supporting equipment trials and product testing to offer valuable feedback. Candidates should have a strong customer service orientation, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively under pressure in fast-paced environments. The position allows for up to 15% domestic travel and requires physical stamina to manage extended periods of standing and lifting within kitchen and event environments.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Minimum of 4+ years of culinary experience in restaurant, catering, or commercial kitchen environments
  • Ability to travel up to 15% domestically with a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to sit/stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift/move up to 40 lbs
  • Work schedule Monday through Friday with flexible hours as needed
  • Skilled in adapting recipes and techniques to commercial kitchen equipment
  • Customer service oriented
  • Knowledge of culinary techniques and food safety
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Fluent in English

Job Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in culinary arts or relevant field or CEC certification is preferred
  • High school diploma is required
  • Minimum of 4+ years of culinary experience in restaurant, catering, or commercial kitchen environments
  • Experience with wide-range of commercial foodservice equipment is highly desirable
  • Skilled in adapting recipes and techniques to various commercial kitchen equipment applications including modern technology systems is preferred
  • Customer service oriented and calm and effective under pressure
  • Solid knowledge of culinary techniques and food presentation
  • Familiarity with commercial kitchen operations and equipment
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments and manage multiple tasks
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
  • Understanding of food safety regulations and best practices
  • Ability to assist in live cooking demonstrations and equipment presentations
  • Strong sense of urgency and high attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently
  • Fluent in English
  • Spanish proficiency is a plus
  • Ability to align with company core values

Job Duties

  • Assist the Executive Chef and Executive Sous Chef in preparing and executing menus for fine-dining experiences, culinary demonstrations, and customer events
  • Ensure food quality, presentation, and timing meet Welbilt’s brand standards and exceed customer expectations
  • Contribute ideas to menu development and culinary innovation aligned with brand goals
  • Support coordination and training of temporary back-of-house (BOH) staff
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, collaboration, professionalism, culinary excellence and respectful kitchen environment
  • Support the planning and execution of culinary components for VIP visits, customer/dealer events, and internal functions
  • Collaborate with internal brand teams to help deliver customized culinary experiences that showcase Welbilt’s equipment and capabilities
