This opening is for a full-time Sous Chef position located at the Cleveland Clinic, 9500 Euclid Ave, Cleveland, OH 44195. The role involves working some evenings, weekends, and holidays with various shifts that may include 12:30 PM to 8:30 PM, 12 PM to 9 PM, or 10 PM shifts, to ensure round-the-clock service quality in a busy clinical food service environment. The pay range for this position is $20.00 to $22.00 per hour. The position requires previous cooking experience in a professional kitchen setting, emphasizing a solid understanding of food preparation, safety, quality control, and team leadership.
As a Sous Chef at Morrison Healthcare, you will directly contribute to the operational success of the kitchen by supervising and coordinating the daily activities of cooking and foodservice associates. Your leadership will ensure compliance with food handling, sanitation, and customer service excellence. You’ll be responsible for interviewing and scheduling staff, overseeing training and payroll, and applying disciplinary actions when necessary. The role also involves preparing high-quality food items according to standardized recipes, maintaining food presentation standards, portion control, and ensuring proper serving temperatures to provide an exceptional patient and customer experience.
You will also oversee inventory management by tracking food usage, waste, and consumption to make informed requisition or purchasing decisions. Receiving and inspecting supplies to verify quantity and quality falls under your purview. Maintaining sanitation and cleanliness in the kitchen environment, including equipment, utensils, and workstations, is essential to guarantee compliance with safety and health regulations. Additionally, you will be involved in helping to develop recipes and menus that align with the nutritional and operational goals of the healthcare setting.

Job Duties
- Supervises, coordinates and participates in activities of cooks and other associates engaged in preparing, cooking and serving food
- ensures all food handling, sanitation and customer service standards are met
- supervises hourly kitchen associates including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, participating in reviews and recommending disciplinary action
- prepares high-quality food items according to standardized recipes to meet production, delivery and service schedules
- ensures proper presentation, food quality, portion control and maintenance of proper serving temperatures
- tracks food use, waste and consumption to requisition or purchase product
- receives and inspects product and supplies for quality and quantity to ensure appropriate inventory
- maintains sanitation of equipment, supplies and utensils
- cleans workstation thoroughly before leaving area
- keeps display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service to ensure compliance with sanitation, safety, production and merchandising requirements
- helps select and develop recipes and menus
- performs other duties as assigned
