The role of a Sous Chef with Disney Cruise Line offers a unique opportunity to join a vibrant culinary team aboard one of their cruise vessels. This shipboard position reports directly to the Chef de Cuisine and involves leading a multicultural team of cooks and chefs. The Sous Chef plays a crucial role in ensuring that all food items meet Disney’s high standards of flavor, presentation, and safety. Key responsibilities include managing daily culinary operations, enforcing rigorous compliance with food safety programs like the Vessel Sanitation Program, and ensuring that dietary needs and allergies are thoroughly addressed in menu preparations.

As a pivotal leader in the galley, the Sous Chef coordinates communication among culinary staff and upper management, assists in maintaining food quality throughout storage and service, and oversees the proper use and upkeep of kitchen equipment. This role requires overseeing opening and closing procedures for all assigned food production areas, conducting daily menu presentations and tastings, and providing performance feedback to promote continuous improvement of the culinary team.
