Job Description

We are currently seeking an experienced and driven sous chef to join our dynamic kitchen team. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in high-volume, scratch-made cooking and a passion for maintaining exceptional food quality and kitchen operations. As a sous chef at Mexican Sugar, you will play a critical role in managing the kitchen efficiently, ensuring safety and sanitation protocols meet local health regulations, and delivering consistently exceptional food to our customers. You will collaborate closely with restaurant managers and other kitchen staff to oversee all aspects of food and beverage service, including inventory management, employee scheduling, and training. This position offers a competitive salary range of $52,000 to $65,000 per year, plus a monthly profit share, reflecting the level of expertise and dedication we expect from our team members.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar kitchen role
  • Ability to work flexible schedules
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Knowledge of safety and sanitation regulations
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States

Job Qualifications

  • 2+ years of kitchen experience in a similar role
  • A degree in Culinary Arts is not required but is a plus
  • Experience in leading and supervising hourly team members
  • Experience working within budget parameters
  • Knowledge of scheduling and restaurant software programs
  • Strong knowledge of cooking methods, kitchen equipment, and best practices

Job Duties

  • Manage kitchen operations from all aspects as well as provide support throughout the shift
  • Maintain the highest level of food quality while managing waste
  • Manage employees’ schedules
  • Responsible for inventory and purchasing and receiving with approved vendors
  • Maintain a clean and organized facility and following local health regulations
  • Train and develop hourly personnel
