The position of Sous Chef / Kitchen Supervisor at ISS Guckenheimer is a full-time opportunity with an hourly wage ranging from $26.91 to $29.00 per hour. This role operates Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 4:30 pm, including weekends, with schedules subject to change based on business needs and potential overtime. The Sous Chef / Kitchen Supervisor acts as a hands-on culinary leader and operational driver responsible for the success of the food program. The role emphasizes alignment with client culture, ISS Guckenheimer standards, OSHA, and Health Department regulations while leading daily kitchen operations, food quality, and team performance.

As a key player in the culinary operation, the Sous Chef / Kitchen Supervisor oversees production, menu execution, food safety protocols, labor efficiency, and team development to deliver a consistent and high-quality guest experience. This role demands strong leadership skills to prioritize communication, consistency, food quality, and presentation while maintaining a safe, clean, and organized kitchen environment. The candidate must ensure strict adherence to food safety, HACCP standards, and workplace safety policies.

The successful candidate will be instrumental in fostering a positive and accountable team culture and demonstrate a strong service mindset and leadership presence. Operational readiness is critical, encompassing staffing, preparation, and station setup. Moreover, the role includes supporting cost control through waste reduction and portion management to optimize kitchen efficiency.

This leadership position combines culinary expertise and frontline operations management in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, addressing both the creative and logistical demands of a large-scale food service program. The ideal candidate is expected to lead, coach, and develop back-of-house team members, conduct pre-shift meetings, train new hires, provide continuous feedback and recognition, and maintain an organized and inspection-ready kitchen that complies with all relevant health and safety regulations.

Job Qualifications

  • Culinary arts degree preferred
  • experience in a high-volume food service or hospitality environment
  • strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and HACCP standards
  • proven ability to lead, coach and develop teams in a fast-paced setting
  • strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • understanding of menu presentation, merchandising and guest experience

Job Duties

  • Lead, coach and develop back-of-house team members to drive performance and engagement
  • conduct daily pre-shift meetings to align priorities and expectations
  • train and onboard new employees to ensure operational consistency
  • provide ongoing feedback, recognition and corrective coaching
  • foster a culture of accountability, teamwork and respect
  • oversee daily kitchen operations, production sheets, pars and recipe execution
  • ensure all food is prepared and presented according to standards
  • monitor service flow and support during peak periods
  • maintain proper inventory levels, ordering and product rotation (FIFO)
  • ensure stations are fully stocked and service-ready at all times
  • enforce all food safety, sanitation and HACCP standards with zero critical violations
  • maintain an inspection-ready kitchen at all times
  • ensure compliance with OSHA and workplace safety policies
  • promote safe equipment usage and adherence to SOPs
  • act as a brand representative for ISS Guckenheimer and the client
  • support FOH to enhance the overall guest experience
  • resolve guest and client concerns promptly and professionally
  • maintain strong cross-functional collaboration across teams
  • support cost control through portioning, waste reduction and purchasing discipline
  • assist with scheduling, labor deployment and timekeeping accuracy
  • contribute to financial performance through operational efficiency
