Job Requirements

  • minimum 1 year of experience as a sous chef
  • must be 18 years or older
  • ability to work mornings, afternoons, evenings, including weekends
  • commitment to quality and service standards
  • strong leadership skills
  • ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • willingness to relocate to Rochester, NY if not currently local
  • eligibility to work full-time

Job Qualifications

  • culinary degree or equivalent training
  • experience as a sous chef in an upscale or fine dining setting
  • strong leadership and communication skills
  • knowledge of Japanese and Asian cooking techniques
  • passion for Japanese culinary traditions
  • ability to work effectively under pressure
  • familiarity with inventory management and scheduling

Job Duties

  • assist the chef in developing menu items and daily specials
  • lead and motivate the kitchen team to ensure efficient operations
  • maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and sanitation
  • manage inventory, food cost control, and scheduling
  • train and develop kitchen staff
  • ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
  • support continuous culinary innovation and creativity
