We are currently seeking a skilled and dynamic Sous Chef to join our Morrison Healthcare team in Lakeland, Florida. This full-time role is crucial for supporting culinary operations within a healthcare facility, guaranteeing the successful operation of the Culinary Department. The Sous Chef will assist the Executive Chef in supervising food preparation and cooking, developing and refining daily menu items with a focus on presentation, and maintaining high standards of food quality and safety. The position involves overseeing and guiding hourly kitchen associates, collaborating with executive leadership to innovate menus, and assisting with procurement and inventory management. The Sous Chef will also play an integral part in managing cost controls, organizing catering events, and implementing new culinary programs in partnership with the company’s marketing and culinary teams. Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- a.s. degree or equivalent culinary experience
- progressive culinary or kitchen management experience
- experience with catering preferred
- knowledge of food safety and sanitation
- computer skills including microsoft office and email
- ability to supervise and lead kitchen staff
- willingness to participate in client satisfaction programs
- servsafe certification preferred
Job Qualifications
- a.s. or equivalent experience
- some progressive culinary/kitchen management experience
- catering experience a plus
- high volume, complex foodservice operations experience
- institutional and batch cooking experience
- comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends
- proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office, Outlook, email, and internet
- willingness to participate in client satisfaction programs
- servsafe certified preferred
Job Duties
