We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Sous Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. As a Sous Chef with DelMonte Hotel Group, you will play a pivotal role in managing kitchen operations and supporting the Executive Chef in delivering high-quality culinary offerings. This position involves overseeing daily food preparation, ensuring adherence to food safety standards, and maintaining consistency in menu execution. Additionally, you will be responsible for supervising kitchen staff, managing inventory and food costs, and collaborating with other departments to coordinate catering and special events. Your role is integral to fostering a productive kitchen environment that supports the company’s reputation for excellence. This is a full-time position offering competitive compensation ranging from $20.00 to $26.00 per hour, plus potential overtime and bonus opportunities. Job Requirements

  • 2 to 4 years related experience in culinary or related professional area
  • bachelor's degree or equivalent from four-year college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • strong organizational, time-management and prioritization skills
  • excellent communication skills
  • ability to work collaboratively with others
  • self-motivated with a strong work ethic
  • ability to maintain food safety standards
  • experience in supervising kitchen staff

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent from a four-year college or university
  • 2 to 4 years related experience in culinary or professional cooking
  • solid organizational, time-management and prioritization skills

  • knowledge of food safety and handling practices

Job Duties

  • Direct, train and mentor all associates
  • assign duties and shifts and observe performance to ensure adherence to hotel policies and operating procedures
  • write and develop menus, feature offerings, usage records, quality standards and presentation standards
  • prepare and cook food according to standards and monitor food production
  • ensure opening and closing procedures are completed
  • ensure compliance with food safety and handling policies
  • complete monthly food inventory with purchasing department
  • monitor food production, ordering, cost, quality and consistency to meet budgeted food cost and profitability
  • assist at any kitchen stations as needed
  • coordinate catering event details with management and staff
  • implement and follow all brand standards and initiatives
  • attend staff meetings to discuss policies and guest complaints
  • ensure effective departmental communication
  • perform administrative tasks including inventory, budget maintenance, payroll processing and purchasing
  • maintain up-to-date records and files
  • provide information on hotel services
  • ensure cleanliness of kitchen and surrounding areas
