The role of Sous Chef at CHH is a key leadership position within their culinary team, designed for a professional who thrives in a dynamic kitchen environment. As Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Executive Chef to ensure exceptional meal preparation and presentation, while playing a vital role in mentoring junior kitchen staff and ensuring operational excellence. This full-time position offers a unique rotational schedule of five weeks on and ten days off, accommodating both local and commuting employees. In your capacity as Sous Chef, you will assist in overseeing daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, inventory management, and adherence to hygiene and safety protocols. Job Requirements

  • Food Handler Certification required
  • Previous experience as a Sous Chef or in a senior kitchen role
  • Ability to work the mandated 5 weeks on, 10 days off rotational schedule
  • Must be able to work in any of the serviced locations including Midland, Odessa, Big Spring, Orla, Pecos TX, Loving, Carlsbad, Jal NM
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to manage and mentor staff
  • Comfortable working in hot or cold environments
  • Proficient with kitchen equipment including Rational ovens
  • ServeSafe Certification required
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to stand for long periods
  • Comfortable using POS systems such as Toast

Job Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Sous Chef or senior kitchen role
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Solid understanding of food preparation, recipes, and presentation
  • Working knowledge of inventory control and ordering
  • Ability to operate modern kitchen equipment such as Rational ovens
  • Comfortable using basic computer systems for reporting and ordering
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • ServeSafe Certification
  • Fluent in English

Job Duties

  • Assisting with daily food preparation and kitchen operations
  • Supervising kitchen staff and ensuring high standards of food quality and safety
  • Tracking and managing inventory, placing orders as needed
  • Supporting line cooking, dish plating, and prep tasks during service
