The role of Sous Chef at Hyatt is a critical leadership position within the culinary department. This role involves managing a specific kitchen department and working closely with the Executive Chef or Executive Sous Chef to establish and maintain Hyatt’s high standards of food quality, presentation, and service. Ideal candidates for the Sous Chef position are proficient in all aspects of kitchen operations, possess strong leadership and communication skills, and demonstrate the ability to consistently produce high-quality culinary products. Experience with training, financial management, customer service, and general computer use is important, as is a genuine passion for exceeding guest expectations in a fast-paced environment. Hyatt offers ongoing development opportunities for Sous Chefs to advance to Executive Sous Chef positions, emphasizing career growth within the company. With an established track record of promoting 70% of management hires and 89% of managing committee members from within, Hyatt presents an excellent career pathway and competitive compensation, with the salary for this role ranging from $75,000 to $80,000 annually. This position offers a rewarding opportunity for culinary professionals to develop their skills and leadership in one of the world’s premier hospitality companies.
