The Full-Time Cook position at Carleton-Willard Village is instrumental in maintaining the high standards of meal preparation and nourishment for residents and staff alike. The role operates between 11 am and 7:30 pm, including weekends, to ensure consistent and high-quality food service. The Cook is responsible for preparing meals according to schedules, ensuring that all food served is fresh, nutritious, and meets the highest quality standards. Attention to proper food temperatures and sanitation procedures is critical to the role, ensuring the health and safety of all individuals consuming meals within the facility.
In addition to meal preparation, the Cook supervises kitchen production staff in the absence of the Head Chef, demonstrating leadership and organizational skills. Opening the kitchen each morning involves ensuring cleanliness, orderliness, and adherence to sanitation protocols. The position requires active participation in daily production meetings, communication with the Director of Dining and Nutritional Services regarding shortages, and the flexibility to manage food substitutions as needed. The Cook also reviews leftover food and collaborates with the Head Chef to optimize usage and minimize waste. Participation in food preparation and service during special organizational functions is also expected. Overall, this role is vital to supporting the dining experience and operational excellence within Carleton-Willard Village.

Job Duties
- Assists in the production of meals as scheduled, assuring that foods produced are of the highest quality and served at the proper temperature and with regard to proper sanitary procedures
- Prepares lunch meals to be served in the Employee Cafeteria
- Supervises the kitchen production staff in the absence of the Head Chef
- Opens the kitchen each morning, assuring that all areas of the kitchen are clean and orderly and that all sanitation tasks have been properly completed
- Attends daily production meetings and review production sheets for the following two days, making sure the Director of Dining and Nutritional Services is alerted of any shortages
- Monitors any food shortages during meals and substitutes items with equal or greater popularity
- Reviews daily leftover food in all refrigerators and recommends appropriate usage to the Head Chef
- Assists as needed in food preparation and service at special organizational functions
- Performs all other duties as assigned
