Job Description

Sagora Senior Living is a respected organization known for its commitment to enhancing the lives of seniors through compassionate and quality services. Specializing in senior living communities, Sagora offers various levels of care including independent living, assisted living, and memory care. The company prides itself on putting Residents First while fostering a team-focused and quality-centered environment. Recognized through team member surveys as a Great Place to Work, Sagora is dedicated to investing in its employees by providing upward career mobility and empowering team members to grow professionally within the company. The organization’s core values—Commitment, Empowerment, Communication, Excellence, and Teamwork—serve as guiding principles that shape its culture and operational approach. Sagora's name itself reflects its ethos, combining "Sage," meaning wisdom or wise person, with "Agora," a gathering place, symbolizing communities that celebrate wisdom and connection.

The role of a Sous Chef at Sagora Senior Living is pivotal in ensuring an exceptional culinary experience for its residents. As a creative and detail-oriented individual, the Sous Chef works closely with the Culinary Director and other culinary team members to prepare nutritious, appealing meals that consistently exceed residents' expectations. The position involves assisting in the daily oversight and supervision of the culinary department, maintaining high standards of food quality, safety, cleanliness, and presentation. Responsibilities include preparing menu items according to recipes, cooking à la carte dishes, and presenting finished plates that enhance the dining experience. The Sous Chef also oversees the kitchen in the absence of the Culinary Director, managing inventory and orders for food and supplies, and conducting monthly deep cleaning of the kitchen to uphold sanitary standards.

Beyond these operational duties, the Sous Chef plays a critical role in training and counseling food service associates, helping to develop a skilled and motivated culinary team. The ability to adapt dishes for specialized diets is essential, ensuring all residents receive meals that meet their nutritional and health requirements. Effective communication skills are crucial, as the role involves interaction with residents, families, guests, and team members to foster a welcoming atmosphere. The position is full-time and based at Wilshire Senior Living, located at 1600 Greenridge Dr.

Sagora provides a comprehensive benefits package designed to support the well-being and growth of its employees. These benefits include company-paid telemedicine services, on-demand pay, discount and rewards programs, health, dental, vision, disability and life insurance options, flexible spending accounts, dependent care plans, a health savings account, a 401(k) retirement savings plan with company matching, paid time off, holiday pay, a team member assistance program for counseling services, discounted meal tickets, referral bonuses, and tuition assistance for career-related programs. This robust benefits package underscores Sagora’s dedication to its people and its mission to create a positive and rewarding workplace where team members can thrive.
