Job Description

Husk in Savannah, GA, is a nationally acclaimed restaurant that has set the standard in modern Southern cuisine since its establishment in 2017. Located in the heart of Savannah's Historic District, Husk takes pride in celebrating the rich history and evolution of Southern cooking by supporting local suppliers and showcasing the bounty of the region through its ever-changing, diverse menu. Known especially for its extensive raw bar and seafood program, Husk offers a unique culinary experience by featuring a variety of regional oysters from the East Coast alongside other exceptional Southern ingredients. The restaurant is part of The Neighborhood Dining Group, which includes other well-known establishments such as Marbled & Fin, Delaney Oyster House, Minero, and The James. This group is devoted to redefining what it means to cook and lead with purpose, fostering creativity, strong leadership, and continuous professional growth within its teams.

The Sous Chef role at Husk is a prime opportunity for driven and passionate culinary professionals who wish to elevate their craft in a high-performing, professional kitchen environment. This position offers competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, short-term disability, and life insurance after 30 days, a 401(k) plan with employer match, generous paid time off that increases with tenure, and various employee perks such as dining discounts and gym memberships. Additionally, Husk provides supportive resources for mental health and offers leadership development programs, a quarterly profit-sharing plan, and internal opportunities for career advancement within the company.

As a Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Executive Chef to oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring that every dish meets Husk's high standards for quality, preparation, and presentation. This hands-on role requires managing kitchen staff by training and mentoring to foster team consistency and excellence. You will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness, organization, and safety standards in all kitchen areas, as well as collaborating with front-of-house management to ensure a seamless dining experience for guests. Key responsibilities also include assisting with scheduling, inventory management, prep execution, and ordering supplies to keep kitchen operations running smoothly.

The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in an upscale, fast-paced restaurant environment and pays close attention to detail. You must be passionate about hospitality and motivated to lead, educate, and inspire a team under pressure while maintaining clear and effective communication. Husk values chefs who approach their craft with integrity, professionalism, and energy for every service and who are eager to grow within a nationally recognized restaurant group committed to quality, creativity, and teamwork. If you are ready to advance your culinary career with Husk, you will join an innovative team dedicated to modern Southern cuisine with a deep respect for tradition and an emphasis on local sourcing.
