This on-site role is integral to delivering high-quality, nutritious meals that aid clients during the detoxification and early recovery phases. The Sous Chef will be responsible for planning and preparing balanced meals tailored to meet dietary restrictions and ensure optimal nutrition and comfort for individuals undergoing medical detox.
This position offers an hourly wage ranging from $24 to $28 depending on the candidate's experience, accompanied by a stable schedule and a supportive work environment. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2-3 years of professional cooking experience
- Experience in healthcare or treatment facility kitchens preferred
- ServSafe certification or willingness to obtain
- Ability to work on-site in Weatherford, TX
- Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
Job Qualifications
- 2-3 years of experience as a chef or cook, healthcare, residential, or treatment facility experience strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of nutrition and dietary needs related to detox and early recovery
- Knowledge of food-safety regulations and health-code requirements
- ServSafe certification or ability to obtain
- Ability to manage a kitchen independently and maintain a calm, professional environment
- Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills
- Reliable, compassionate, and committed to client wellbeing
Job Duties
- Plan and prepare balanced meals that support clients during medical detox, prioritizing hydration, nutrition, and comfort
- Adjust meals to meet individual dietary needs, allergies, and physician-approved meal modifications
- Ensure all meals are prepared on schedule with quality and consistency
- Maintain strict compliance with food-safety standards, health regulations, and facility policies
- Maintain a clean, sanitized, and organized kitchen at all times
- Implement and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for food handling, preparation, storage, and sanitation
- Monitor food inventory and place timely orders to ensure uninterrupted meal service
- Track food usage, reduce waste, and maintain cost-efficient purchasing practices
- Ensure all food is stored and rotated properly according to safety standards
- Work closely with nursing and clinical staff to accommodate special diets, nutrition-related requests, and client health needs
- Communicate meal schedules, ingredient changes, and dietary updates to the treatment team
- Support kitchen assistants or dietary aides if applicable
- Provide a positive dining experience that promotes comfort, stability, and recovery
- Prepare snacks and hydration options appropriate for detox clients
- Assist with accommodating clients experiencing nausea or medical sensitivities during detox
