Currently, Bon Appetit is seeking a dedicated Full-Time Sous Chef to join their team located at 901 Page Ave., Fremont, CA. The schedule for this position is Monday to Friday, from 5:30 AM to 2:00 PM, with an offered hourly wage ranging between $25.00 and $27.00. The Sous Chef will collaborate closely with the Executive Chef to ensure smooth kitchen operations and maintain the high standards of food preparation and presentation that Bon Appetit is known for. In the role of Sous Chef, you will be responsible for assisting the Executive Chef in all aspects of food preparation and kitchen management. You will oversee activities of cooks and food service associates, ensuring that food production meets the company's rigorous standards and deadlines. Your leadership will encompass supervising hourly employees, including handling interviews, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, and participating in performance reviews and disciplinary actions as necessary. Furthermore, you will ensure that all food is stored, handled, and presented according to corporate, state, and federal safety regulations, maintaining serving temperatures and portion control. Maintaining kitchen sanitation, cleanliness, and adherence to safety protocols will also be your priority to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.

This position also involves customer interaction, particularly addressing complaints with a friendly and solution-oriented approach. Understanding menu items thoroughly and being able to explain them accurately to customers and associates is crucial. You will monitor peak production times to optimize efficiency while managing inventory, deliveries, and waste control effectively. Job Duties

  • Cooks and prepares food following approved recipes and production standards
  • ensures all deadlines are met based on production orders
  • supervises hourly food service associates including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, and participating in reviews and recommending disciplinary action as appropriate
  • stores food in designated areas following all corporate, state and federal food safety and sanitation procedures
  • ensures proper food handling, presentation, portion control and maintenance of appropriate serving temperatures
  • maintains sanitation of equipment, supplies and utensils
  • cleans workstation thoroughly before leaving area
  • keeps display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service to comply with all sanitation, safety, production and merchandising requirements
  • interacts with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner
  • demonstrates complete understanding of daily menu items and accurately explains them to associates and customers
  • keeps up with peak production and service hours
  • monitors inventory and deliveries of product and supplies
  • tracks product production, consumption and waste
  • informs supervisor when supplies or product are low
  • performs other duties as assigned
