Job Description

This position is tailored to support the culinary operations within DPS, working alongside the head chef to effectively manage daily kitchen activities. The role involves taking a hands-on approach to overseeing staff, assisting with menu creation, and ensuring food quality, freshness, and safety standards are consistently met. The focus is on executing assigned kitchen tasks with a high degree of customer service and attention to detail, providing critical support to maintain the operational efficiency of the culinary department. The role also involves training and leading kitchen staff, organizing kitchen stock, managing ordering and waste reduction, and upholding safety and sanitation guidelines.

The ideal candidate for this role will have a high school diploma and will either possess or be able to obtain licenses necessary for commercial food service and kitchen operations, complying with health department regulations. Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • Assists head chef with menu creation
  • leads kitchen team in chef's absence
  • provides guidance to junior kitchen staff members including line cooking, food preparation, and dish plating
  • oversees and organizes kitchen stock and ingredients
  • ensures a first-in, first-out food rotation system and verifies all food products are properly dated and organized for quality assurance
  • keeps cooking stations stocked especially before and during prime operation hours
  • works with head chef to maintain kitchen organization, staff ability, and training opportunities
  • manages food and product ordering by keeping detailed records
  • supervises all food preparation and presentation to ensure quality and restaurant standards
  • coordinates with restaurant management team on supply ordering, budget, and kitchen efficiency and staffing
