Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two or more years of post-high school education, culinary education preferred
  • Five or more years of employment in a related position
  • Prior experience in hotel or food service management preferred
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
  • Ability to monitor and control food and labor costs
  • Capability to train and develop kitchen staff
  • Ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

Job Qualifications

  • Two or more years of post-high school education, culinary education preferred
  • Five or more years of experience in a related position
  • Hotel experience preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of food profession principles and practices
  • Knowledge of hotel operations including marketing, security, labor relations, budgeting, and quality assurance
  • Leadership skills to motivate and develop staff
  • Ability to work effectively under time constraints and deadlines
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with adaptability to different audiences

Job Duties

  • Manage the daily production, preparation, and presentation of all food for the hotel's restaurant(s) and room service to ensure quality and consistency
  • Manage human resources in the kitchen including interviewing, hiring, scheduling, training, developing, and coaching staff
  • Schedule and oversee the maintenance and sanitation of kitchen and related areas to comply with health and safety regulations
  • Monitor, analyze, and control labor and food costs while preparing reports and schedules to meet or exceed budget goals
  • Promote the Accident Prevention Program to minimize liabilities and expenses
  • Assist the Executive Chef in creating, costing, and implementing seasonal and special menus
  • Assume the responsibilities of the Executive Chef in their absence
  • Comply with attendance rules and maintain regular availability
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned
