Job Requirements
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
- high school diploma or equivalent
- two years quantity and/or restaurant-style cooking experience
- ServSafe certification or willingness to obtain
- ability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as scheduled
- ability to lift, transfer, push or pull up to 50 pounds
- ability to sit up to 4 hours per day, stand and walk up to 8 hours per day
- minimal travel requirements
- compliance with safety and sanitation procedures
- readiness to work in a fast-paced environment
- ability to follow company policies and procedures
- willingness to undergo training and continuous development
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- associate degree or certification from culinary arts training program preferred
- ServSafe certification required or willing to obtain
- two years quantity and/or restaurant-style cooking experience required
- one year experience in direct food service operations supervision preferred
- strong knowledge of cooking methods and food and catering trends focusing on quality, production, sanitation, and presentation
- experience in food cost control, service operational management, purchasing, inventory control, and menu planning
- proficiency with Windows, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and the internet
- proficiency with Point of Sale (POS) and diet management software preferred
Job Duties
- Supervises day-to-day operations of kitchen to ensure timely and efficient meal service
- prepares food in accordance with quality standards, sanitary regulations, and established policies
- assists in preparation of all products and meals to ensure palatable and appetizing appearance
- portions food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications
- monitors usage and inventory of food items for food production and menu planning
- assists supervisor in maintaining food and supplies inventory with accurate requisition and stocking
- ensures residents' dietary needs are met through nutritional recipes and menu plans in accordance with prescribed diet orders
- participates in cleaning and maintaining kitchen work areas and equipment in a clean and safe manner
- assists with planning and executing catering and special events
- ensures proper shutdown of kitchen and equipment
- ensures consistently high quality food production and presentation
- follows special diet orders and portion control procedures
- maintains culinary services work areas and equipment sanitary
- complies with quality assurance, infection control, and universal precautions
- shares operational insights to improve quality and efficiency
- attends meetings and training sessions
- supervises cooking staff and fosters positive work environment
- interviews, selects, orients new reports
- sets and promotes performance expectations
- evaluates job performance and provides developmental guidance
- monitors compliance with organization policies
- works with Human Resources on documentation and interventions
- participates in training and orientation programs
- develops staffing plans
- responds to staff inquiries promptly
- listens and responds to residents and staff needs
- maintains confidentiality of resident information
- maintains accurate records and documentation
- keeps production orders and usage logs
- performs other duties as assigned
