Job Requirements

  • Must be eighteen years of age
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Six months of experience working in a restaurant or similar environment as a cook preferred
  • Able to safely operate standard cooking equipment and utensils
  • Able to operate a personal computer and proficient in MS Office programs
  • Able to operate standard office equipment including fax machine, copier, and telephone
  • Knowledge of and/or ability to learn assisted living and dementia care
  • Ability to work with seniors and patiently interact with cognitively impaired individuals
  • Able to be flexible, adapt to change, prioritize tasks and projects, and make decisions in stressful situations
  • Able to process information and follow written or oral instructions
  • Must pass a criminal background check and health screening including physical and TB tests
  • Willingness to comply with COVID-19 vaccination, daily screening, surveillance testing, and PPE requirements

  • College coursework or education in food service or management preferred
  • Minimum six months experience in restaurant or similar environment as a cook preferred
  • Able to safely operate standard cooking equipment and utensils
  • Proficient in MS Office programs
  • Able to operate standard office equipment including fax, copier, and telephone
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn assisted living and dementia care practices
  • Demonstrated ability to work patiently with seniors, including those with cognitive impairments
  • Ability to adapt to change, prioritize tasks, and make decisions under stress
  • Able to follow written and oral instructions accurately
  • Must pass criminal background check and health screening including physical and TB tests
  • Willingness to comply with COVID-19 vaccination, screening, and protective equipment policies

Job Duties

  • Ensure the dining experience is of high quality including menu selection, meal preparation, presentation, taste, and service
  • Assist with planning, preparation, and delivery of all community meals and special event foods
  • Prepare and serve food following sanitary regulations and property policies
  • Develop and implement culinary procedures to ensure timely food preparation and proper temperature control
  • Maintain menu plan adherence and assist in assessing food quality and quantity
  • Control meal portions and food consistency to minimize waste
  • Act as Department Manager in the absence of the Culinary Services Director, including staffing and supervision
  • Assist in purchasing, inventory, and stock management of food and supplies
  • Ensure a sanitary work environment and compliance with local health codes
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in food storage and utility areas
  • Order food within budget and maintain accurate inventory records
  • Train culinary staff in receiving food orders for quality and quantity
  • Engage with residents to understand and accommodate individual food preferences
