Job Requirements

  • Physical ability to stand or walk continuously for up to 8 hours a day
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push/pull, and frequently lift/move up to 30 pounds
  • Experience in cooking and kitchen operations
  • Certification in food safety and handling
  • Knowledge of HACCP regulations
  • Ability to manage kitchen staff
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Job Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in cooking techniques including sauteing, roasting, braising
  • Menu planning and recipe development skills
  • Knowledge of international cuisines and food presentation
  • Ability to follow company and HACCP policies and procedures
  • Ability to control company resources and adhere to budgetary guidelines
  • Certification in proper food handling and food safety guidelines
  • Detail oriented with ability to perform mathematical calculations and follow equipment and recipe directions
  • Understanding of flavor profiles and seasonings with ability to cost-effectively select menu items
  • Expert understanding of safety and sanitation in the kitchen
  • Initiative and good judgment in assigning tasks, delegating and resolving problems
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to supervise and secure cooperation of dining service operations employees
  • Professional image and promotion of safety standards

Job Duties

  • Work to continually improve customer satisfaction while maintaining the operating budget
  • Supervise all kitchen areas to ensure a consistent, high quality product is produced
  • Ensure sanitation and food standards are achieved
  • Prepare food by operating a variety of kitchen equipment
  • Read menus and recipes, estimate food preparation amounts, check or assist in creating production records
  • Clean and sanitize work stations and follow all HACCP regulations
  • Produce small and large batch cooking
