The open position is for a hospitality-minded Sous Chef who will play a vital role in the daily kitchen operations. This full-service, cook-to-order restaurant environment requires a professional dedicated to supporting the culinary team, maintaining food quality, and ensuring outstanding service delivery to residents. Flexibility in work schedules is emphasized, with both AM and PM shifts available and no hours generally expected past 8 PM. The Sous Chef will assist in planning, scheduling, and supervising kitchen staff, help develop and implement menus, and oversee food preparation standards. A key part of the role involves training kitchen personnel and assuring compliance with safety and sanitation regulations as per the Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC). Employees receive complimentary meals and uniforms, making it an attractive role for those passionate about culinary arts within a supportive community setting. Compensation includes a base salary of $20 per hour plus a $4 weekend differential, reflecting the value placed on skilled kitchen professionals at Rolling Green Village.

Job Requirements

- minimum 2 years culinary experience
- supervisory experience preferred
- knowledge of dhewc regulations and food safety standards

Job Duties
- assists in the planning, scheduling and supervising of kitchen personnel
- assists in the development of all menus and assures implementation and production of these menus consistent with kitchen managers expectations
- assures staff education is provided to kitchen employees in accordance with the staff education program, provides on-the-job training for food preparation and kitchen employees
- develops work assignments for all kitchen personnel, assigning special jobs and spot checking work to ensure standards are met
- assists in all ordering, receiving and proper storage of all food and supplies
- supervises production, sanitation and food service to apartment residents and health center residents
- handles inventory controls and maintains minimum/maximum par levels
