The position open for immediate hiring is that of a full-time Sous Chef located at their Winding Commons facility in Carmichael, CA. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, providing a balanced full-time opportunity. The Sous Chef role at Morrison Living is integral to the culinary team, acting as the right hand to the Executive Chef in kitchen management and food preparation. This position involves coordinating and supervising kitchen staff, ensuring that the production and presentation of food meet high standards. The Sous Chef will help maintain kitchen operations, manage inventory, monitor food safety and sanitation protocols, and support overall culinary excellence. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of prior cooking experience
  • Ability to work full time Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
  • Must be able to follow approved recipes and production standards
  • Must have experience supervising kitchen staff
  • Knowledge of corporate, state, and federal food safety and sanitation procedures
  • Ability to handle customer interactions professionally
  • Ability to perform physical kitchen duties including cleaning and maintaining workstation
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of prior cooking experience
  • Proven leadership skills in a food service environment
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and customers
  • Experience with inventory management and production tracking
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills

Job Duties

  • Cooks and prepares food following approved recipes and production standards
  • Ensures all deadlines are met based on production orders
  • Supervises hourly food service associates including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, and participating in reviews
  • Stores food in designated areas following all corporate, state and federal food safety and sanitation procedures
  • Ensures proper food handling, presentation, portion control and maintenance of appropriate serving temperatures
  • Maintains sanitation of equipment, supplies and utensils
  • Cleans workstation thoroughly before leaving area
  • Keeps display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service
  • Interacts with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner
  • Relays relevant information directly to supervisor
  • Demonstrates complete understanding of daily menu items and accurately explains them to associates and customers
  • Keeps up with peak production and service hours
  • Monitors inventory and deliveries of product and supplies
  • Tracks product production, consumption and waste
  • Informs supervisor when supplies or product are low
  • Performs other duties as assigned
